In 1989, Dave Nagy Sr. decided it was high time he pursued his dream of running his own body shop. Having worked for decades in the auto industry, Dave had the know-how and the willpower, all he needed was the ideal spot. He found the corner of US 12 and W. Miller Highway in Brooklyn an ideal spot within his local community, and purchased it. The dream was now real!
Starting out, it was Dave and his wife Charlotte, and 2 other employees. It was nearly a one-man shop, however it didn’t take long before more room was necessary and it was time to add on in both space and employees. A state-of-the-art paint booth was built in 1997, designed with a continuous workflow mindset. Foreseeing the need for independent work areas, Dave designed and built the paint shop separate from the body shop. This segregation also prevents any contaminants from entering the paint booth or prep area, ensuring a high quality finish.
A new 4,000 square foot body shop was constructed in October 2010 to keep up with the high demand for repair services. This addition brought the total facility square footage to more than 11,000 square feet. It was during this time that Jeff, who was now working full time side-by-side with Dave, came up with the idea to convert the old body shop to a full-service mechanic shop. Many collision jobs require mechanical work before the car can be returned to the customer. By adding the mechanical services, Jeff was able to keep better control in achieving delivery timelines and in maintaining standards of mechanical repairs. He also believed this additional functionality would prove to be a benefit to the local community.
During the late summer of 2015, the shop celebrated their 25th anniversary. Customers, vendors, friends and family all gathered to celebrate with Dave and Charlotte on their tremendous accomplishment and the legacy that they created. During this time, additional insurance companies invited Jeff to become a participating member of their direct repair program, rounding out Irish Hills Collision & Service’s inclusion of direct repair programs.
In 2016 Jeff became the full owner of the repair facility. His younger brother Mike joined the team as an estimator and Body Shop Manager. The shop employs 13 full time employees; they are all kept company throughout the day by one high-spirited yet adorable Vizsla – Lewis.
After working together for eight years, Mike and Jeff decided it was time to expand the family owned business. After looking at multiple locations, they found a location in Tecumseh, MI to be the best fit.
Mike put together a great group of staff and on November 1, 2021 he opened our second location where he has been able to bring our honest, effective & affordable expertise to many new customers!
